Canadian Region
My new idea for a Pokemon Region based on Canada, this page will be updated as more research is uncovered. This page will include information on the Places, Gyms and their Leaders, Elite Four, Champion, People and Pokemon you will meet on the journey through this region.
The 8 Major cities
This region is made up of 8 major cities that each host a gym with one city hosting a gym and the site of the elite four and champion. In order you will visit;
Etroit City
Mount Riple
Tronter (A mix of Toronto, Tree and Water as the word Toronto comes from an Iroquois term meaning “Where there are trees in water”)
Otrawa Town (A mix of Ottawa and Trade as Ottawa derives from a Algonquin word which is “adawe” meaning “to trade” and was originally a bytown.)
Heulizu (Winnipeg was named after the lake that held the name Win-Nipee after the Cree language meaning Muddy Water, Muddy in Korean being Heulin and Water in Japanese being Mizu and where the i’s allign swapping the word.)
Bow Bay (Calgary derives its name from Scotish Gaelic and a scenic bay on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, the Scotish Gaelic of Cala-ghearridh means “Pasture by the Bay” with Cala meaning Bay/Harbour and Ghearridh meaning Pasture. In the native languages the name of the place all reference the meeting and bend of the Bow and Elbow River)
Fort Biba (Edmonton was originally set up under the name Fort Edmonton by the Hudson Bay Company, In Cree language the area is known as Beaver Hills House and Beaver in Japanese is Bībā.)
Port Maple (Vancouver takes it’s name from the surname of a British explorer but the name for the place used by the Squamish people is K’emk’emeláy̓ which means “Place of many Maple Trees” and Vancouver is the busiest port in Canada.)
Etroit City
The first city is Etroit City, this one is based on the Canadian city Quebec City and is home to the first gym of the eight the Water type gym. This city is home to the second biggest port in the region, and the people have a strong connection to the Kalos region here each trainer in the area only using Pokemon found locally and in the Kalos region. The city is split into a few districts the first being residential where all of the people that call this city home live, nearby to this area is the downtown area with all the comercial needs and provisions for the population and then there’s the Dockyard and the Port itself. Pokemon can be encountered in the Dockyard and Port areas of the city. Etroit City is also the site of the Elite Four and Champion, on your first visit you will register yourself for the gym challenge in that bulding before heading westwards through the region collecting the eight gym badges before returning east back to Etroit City to challenge the Elite Four and Champion. The reasoning beind the name is that Quebec is named after the narrow passage the river takes as it nears the site of the modern day city and Etroit in French which Quebec has strong ties to means Narrow.
Etroit City Gym
The gym has two trainers in it before you reach the gym leader and you make the path to the gym leader by moving small cargo ships to connet the platforms that are found within the gym, upon defeating the gym you are granted the Container Badge.

The Elite 4
The Elite 4 is made up of the four strongest trainers in the region each trainer in the Elite 4 has a single type they pick to use similar to the gym leaders in this Elite 4 the trainers have picked, and this Champion uses a team made up of the 6 duel types that the Elite 4 creates;
Elite 4 Member 1: Dyna, the Electric Type Member. Team at Lv. 60 with the ace at Lv. 62. They use
Elite 4 Member 2: Ince, the Bug Type Member. Team at Lv. 60 with the ace at Lv. 62. They use
Elite 4 Member 3: Amilea, the Flying Type Member. Team at Lv. 60 with the ace at Lv. 62. They use
Elite 4 Member 4: Violet, the Ghost Type Member. Team at Lv. 60 with the ace at Lv. 62. They use
Champion: Leo, The Champion. Team: Lv. 62 Yanmega (Bug/Flying), Lv. 62 Emolga (Electric/Flying), Lv. 62 Drifblim (Ghost/Flying), Lv. 62 Karlue (Ghost/Bug), Lv. 62 Ghoulbery (Electric/Ghost) and the Ace a Lv. 64 Galvantula (Electric/Bug).
Pokemon in Etroit City
Two New Pokemon Species have been found in the Etroit Dockyards they are;
Freiner, The Container Pokemon, Water/Steel, Found between Levels 3-7 in the Dockyards. This Pokemon has one evolution and evolves at Level 25. Pokemon takes it’s appearence from Shipping containers, as it is a living version of those containers that are shipped around the Pokemon world.
Galion, The Shipping Pokemon, Water/Grass, Found between Levels 4-9 in the Dockyards. This Pokemon can evolve twice once at Level 20 and again at Level 35. This Pokemon takes it’s appearance from an old Gallion merchant ship combined with a Lion.
The Champions New Pokemon
Karlue is a Ghost/Bug type Pokemon. This Pokemon has no evolution line, and is based on the Karner Blue Butterfly which is now extinct from Canada, this Pokemon is the ghost of those creatures past haunting the places that destroyed their habitat. This Pokemon is classified as the Karner Pokemon.
Ghoulbery is an Electric/Ghost type Pokemon. This Pokemon has no evolution line, and is based on an old abandoned Blackberry flip phone that has been inhabited by a ghost wandering around hoping to find a new user. This Pokemon is classified as the Flip Pokemon.
Mount Riple
The second city that you travel to is Mount Riple which is based on the Canadian city Montreal this is where the second gym is located. This cities gym is the steel type gym. This city is home to the main railway hub of the region, this is where the trains that carry containers and people all over the region and where each locomotive is maintained. The city is split up into a few areas, those being the residential, downtown and Train Station areas then area where Pokemon can be found the Railyard. The name Mount Riple comes from Mount Triple as the name of the city it is based on Montreal is from Mount Royal named that by the French explorers for the three peaked hill at the city center.
Mount Riple Gym
The gym has four trainers before the gym leader. The gym puzzle is based around the railway and taking small trains around the gym to move around the puzzle and make it to the gym leader. Upon defeating the leader you will obtain the Railway Badge.

Gym Leader: Lv. 23 Lokimotion (Steel/Ghost), Lv. 23 Diesion (Steel/Poison), Lv. 25 Dynamotion (Steel/Electric)
Team Bose
Team Bose is the opposite to Team Plasma. Where Team Plasma wanted to free all Pokemon Team Bose (the name taken from Bose-Einstein Condensate the opposite of Plasma) want to make Pokemon work in any industry they can to make them the most money that they possibly can, they’ll steal from trainers and put their Pokemon to work more harshly than any of the working Pokemon that can be seen around the region. They don’t give the Pokemon any breaks and their own Pokemon they keep in constant work until they need them to fight and they ditch any Pokemon who faint in battle and send them somewhere unknown. They have set up their HQ in Mount Riple and disgise themselfes as a Private Railway Company that drags containers across the region.
Pokemon in Mount Riple
Found in the Railyard a three new species of Pokemon have been found;
Lokimotion, the Locomotion Pokemon, Steel/Ghost, found between Lv. 19 and Lv. 24 in the Railyard. This Pokemon has no evolutions, and is a toy train that has been taken over by a ghost and is known cause mischif in the Railyard pretending to be a full size train.
Dynamotion, the Dynamo Pokemon, Steel/Electric, found between Lv. 16 and Lv. 21 in the Railyard. This Pokemon is able to evolve once, and is based on an Electric locomotive that hauld the trains across the region and some trainers of Dynamotion use it in place of a locomotive to excersise their Pokemon and try to get it to evolve. This Pokemon evolves at Lv. 40.
Diesion, the Combustion Pokemon, Steel/Poison, found between Lv. 16 and Lv. 22 in the Railyard. This Pokemon cannot evolve and is based on a Diesil locomotive that hauls the trains across the region and in some cases trainers of Diesion use it in place of a real locomotive to excersise their Pokemon.
New Pokemon in the Region
Fightoose, the Aggressive Pokemon, Water/Flying (Peace) Water/Fighting (Attack), this Pokemon based on the Canadian Goose which is known to be highly agressive and so upon being hit with a Physical Attack the Pokemon swiches form from its peaceful form to its attack form and it will stay in attack form until it either faints or is called back by its trainer.
Squilden, the Mantle Pokemon, Normal, this Pokemon is based on the Golden-Mantled Ground Squirel is the regional mammel and will evolve at Lv. 25 into Squound, the Ground Mantle Pokemon, Normal/Ground. Both Pokemon are passive to humans and have been known to beg for food from humans in the cities near to its habitats as well as hibernate through the harsh winter months.
Tronter
The third city that you travel to is Tronter which is based on the Canadian city Toronto. Your third Gym battle is located in Tronter and this time you take on the Ground type gym. Tronter is the sports hub of the Region with a Baseball (Tronter Janay’s), Basketball (Tronter Archeops), Football (Tronter FC) and Ice Hockey (Tronter Maplin’s) team all located within the sports district which is one of the two unique districts in the city the other where Pokemon can be encountered is the abandoned district a place where old industry has gone to rot the city unable to rebuild because of the Pokemon that now call that place home. Tronter is a combination of the words Toronto, Tree and Water as the Iroquois term that came to be Toronto means “Where there are trees in water” which is where the words combined to make Tronter come from.
Tronter Gym
The gym has four trainers before the gym leader. The gym puzzle is based around Baseball, Toronto being the only city that has a Major League Baseball team, meaning that in the Pokemon world’s version the gym is put inside the baseball stadium. Upon defeating the Gym you obtain the Batters Badge

The Sports of the Region
In the Canadian region there are 4 major sports played, those are Baseball, Football, Basketball and most importantly to the people of the region Ice Hockey. Tronter is the only city in the region that has teams in the top leagues of all four sports with one of the sports venues doubling as the cities gym, this is the first of two gyms that are hosted in a sports venue within the region. During the day you can enter the other arenas and fight against the players that play for the cities team, the baseball team can be fought around the city with 5 members of the baseball team making up the gym challenge. When night falls over the city one of the four teams might be in action at their stadium, you can buy cosmetic items from stalls outside the stadium to show your support, then by paying for a ticket you can sit in the stands and watch the game that is taking place. This will be a short cutscene that shows the highlights of the game that has taken place before setting you back outside the stadium after the game amongst the crowd that was also at the game.
There are Ice Hockey teams in each of the eight gym cities, there are baseball teams in two of the cities (Tronter and Edmonton), basketball is only present in Tronter and football is in three (Mount Riple, Tronter and Vancouver) there will be minor league stadiums in other cities but they cannot be accessed.

More New Pokemon in the Region
Janay, the Jay Pokemon, Flying/Normal, This Pokemon is based on the Canada Jay and is the regional bird and cen evolve twice once at Lv. 14 into Jaday (Flying) and then again at Lv. 34 into Janada (Flying/Grass).
Maplin, the Maple Pokemon, Grass, This Pokemon cannot evolve however has three different which are differing colourations the eastern form has a blue/white (+Ice type) colouring, the central form has a green (+Normal type) colouring and the western form has a red (+Fire type) colouring the Pokemon is based on the Canadian Maple Leaf.
